Newtons Playground 2009!

A long overdue post. Here's my write up on our trip to Bathurst:

December 27th - 29th, 2009, Team Melburn (minus Oscar who abandoned us for camels and shisha in Bahrain) headed to Bathurst, NSW Australia for our first ever race, 2009 IGSA World Championships Newton's Playground!

We hooked up with Abdil Madhzan, a street luger from Malaysia in Melbourne and flew into Sydney 3 days before the race. We rented a van for the drive to Bathurst and hooked up with another longboarder from the Philippines (Loren Guevera). But before we started our journey we were left stranded waiting in the Sydney airport for about 4 hours. Somehow JuanDiego managed to miss both his flights so we had no choice but to leave him behind and hope he manages to find his way there with Sean.

After about a 4 hour drive we finally made it to Bathurst!!

The course was pretty insane with loads of crashes to keep the track marshals busy.

Here's Boardshop.com.au's coverage of the race

After 3 days of racing I'm proud the report that most of us managed to qualify and had pretty decent results considering this was our very first race.
