Hemley's Sunday Arvo City Bomb!

Hemley Skateboarding, the Melburn longboard crew and Loaded proudly present SUNDAY ARVO CITY BOMBS!

We have been talking to Jimmy at Hemley for awhile now about organizing monthly sponsored sessions. The main goal was to get more people out there skating together and also building a connection with one of our local skate shops. After Sunday's event I think we're pretty much off to a good start!

We all met up at the Hemley's store at around 3. We had over 40 people show up which was double our expectations! Longboarders, shortboarders, freeborders...you name it. We even had a guy with mountain board show up. It was getting abit crowded in the store so we headed of to Carlton Gardens about a half hour later.

The weather was pretty fickle, it would rain for 2 minutes and then the sun would come up again. Rinse, and repeat. Not to mention the strong winds. That didn't stop us though! We got the BBQ going, had a little kicker for the shortboarders and freeborders to fool around with and plenty of runs to keep to longboarders occupied.

We even had a little race for those who were interested in winning some swag, Hemley's sponsored a set of Loaded gloves, Orangatang wheels and the Make You Smile DVD. Carlton Gardens was a pretty mellow spot so majority of people had the opportunity to participate without getting intimidated by speeds or anything.

Thanks to everyone who showed up we hope you'll start coming out to the sessions more regularly now. Also big props to Hemley for sponsoring the goodies for the event! Definitely watch out for the next one.

Check out some of the footages we got:

p.s. I know there were a few people who didn't have a lid on, but this was one of the first events with Hemley and we didn't want to sideline anyone. As mentioned, it was a very mellow hill with plenty of grass to break any falls.
