Colabo Screening and Downhill weekend!!
Last weekend (16th and 17th January 2010), Wheel Love skateshop, myself and the rest of the crew from Longboarders Guild of Malaysia organized a screening of Colabo's Fellowship of the Bearing followed by our first "official" beginners downhill clinic and mini race.
But before the screening, we couldn't help squeezing in a little session at Janda Baik. Here's a short clip of G and Fendy's bail:
This is why you don't bomb on a chopped FSM, indys, coned wheels and soft bushings!! It freaks you out!
The turnout at the screening at Wheel Love was mediocre but we weren't expecting alot considering how little people know about longboarding here let alone downhill skateboarding. But it was a good night for the regular crew to hang out and meet the few who did show up! So thanks again for the support guys! We gotta start somewhere.
We were stoked about the session the next day. The main aim was to get beginners and first timers out skating and trying the longboards. We had about 8 new people show up (vert skaters, shortboarders and longboarders) which was more than we expected! The hill itself is pretty mellow with speeds no more than 40km/h and traffic was minimal. Perfect hill to get beginners going.

I had donated a pair of my old Loaded slide gloves and Orangatang wheels to the winner, wheels from Loren for 2nd place and a set of Bones bearings from G for 3rd place. Wheel Love sponsored their shirts and loads of stickers for everyone!

Thanks again to everyone for showing up and supporting us! The scene here is just starting to grow and we're definitely working on holding more events in the future.
